Neutering

Catitude advocate for neutering

Neutering will be done before the cat leaves the care of Catitude. We will not allow a cat to leave our care unneutered. Neutering is included in our adoption package.

Kittens can only be neutered from 12 weeks or 1kg whichever comes first. Catitude works on a neutering scheme within our adoption package which insures that all kittens are neutered. Catitude are happy for kittens to go to their new forever home beforehand as the scheme ensures neutering when of age.

Indoor cats do need to be neutered.

Why is neutering so IMPORTANT

To prevent the birth of unwanted kittens

Cats are prolific breeders. A female cat can become pregnant as early as four months old, and may have several litters a year each consisting of four to six kittens. It’s one of the most crucial responsibility of a cat owner, rescue or shelter.

Cats rely on owners to ensure they are making responsible decisions for their animals. Cats can’t do it themselves.

Benefits to neutering

Neutering helps a cats long term health. Neutering tends to reduce certain behaviour resulting in a more content, calm and home friendly kitty.

Beyond this it has a wider impact on stray and feral cat communities . These cats live in very poor conditions, rife with diseases as many are not vaccinated. Neutering is a way of massively reducing the amount of stray and feral cats.

This helps the impact on rescues and shelters, and can ensure that the stray and feral cats also get the help that they truly deserve. They didn’t ask to be stray or feral.
